In the famous incident in which Shai Dromi, a sheep farmer on isolated farms, was forced to shoot bandits who came to rob his flock, he was charged with manslaughter, a crime for which the penalty can be up to 20 years in prison!
The "facts" used in the indictment were two:
A blanket he spread on the ground while he sat to protect his flock from theft.

A bullet hit one of the robbers, who was killed, whose trajectory was "from the bottom up."

These two "facts" led the prosecution to the conclusion that Dromi was lying in ambush and shooting the robbers from the ground upwards....
After arriving at the scene, hearing Dromi's version and examining additional facts, a completely different picture emerged:
The robbers took the trouble to poison the herd's guard dogs to death and then cut the bag's lock with large wire cutters (parrot). Dromi, who heard the cutting sound, fired a warning shot into the air. The robbers panicked and began to flee the enclosure, a path that led them in Dromi's direction. The latter thought they were coming to hit him and fired another shot. This time the robbers fled to a side path while crouching. (After all, bullets "fly" in the air).
The southerner had just stopped and while he was operating it, in complete darkness, several more shots were fired from the weapon, a semi-automatic rifle in .22LR caliber. One of them hit the robber, who later died, in the lower back and continued on a horizontal trajectory parallel to the ground until it reached his chest. Later, when they placed him on the operating table, the direction became "from the bottom up"!

It is important to note that another robber was hit by 5 bullets(!), but was only wounded, remained alive and his testimony, miraculously, matched Dromi's version!
Dromi was acquitted of manslaughter and was only charged with possession of a weapon without a license. (He inherited the rifle from his father, but he did not have a license for it.)
