Arena investigation

Identifying and comparing pods and bullets

עולם הזיהוי הפלילי מורכב משני חלקים: חקירת זירה ואיסוף ממצאים בה (Criminal identification) וניתוח הממצאים השונים במעבדות של מומחים (Forensic science).
כאשר מתבצעת עבירה פלילית כלשהיא, מגניבה ועד לרצח, הראשונים שאמורים להגיע לזירה הם אנשי חקירת הזירה (CSI - Crime Scene Investigators) שתפקידם להנציח את הזירה בתצלומים, בשרטוטים ובאמצעים מתקדמים אחרים, לאסוף בה ממצאים כגון: טביעות אצבע, שרידים ביולוגיים, תרמילים, קליעים וכיוצא בזה, לארוז אותם בצורה מסויימת, כך שלא ייפגעו, ולהעביר אותם למעבדות הזיהוי הפלילי השונות.
במעבדות הנ"ל ישנם אנשי צוות, שחלקם בדרגת מומחה בתחומם, אשר בודקים את הממצאים, מנתחים אותם ולבסוף מגישים חוות דעת מומחה ובה מסקנות לגבי הממצאים שנבדקו. (כתיבת מסקנות היא זכות ייחודית שיש למומחה וזאת בניגוד לעד רגיל, המעיד על מה שראה, מה ששמע, מה שהריח וכדומה).
